Job Summary

The Analytics Lead is passionate about leading people, data, and analytics activities to develop data-driven insights that have a positive impact on healthcare delivery at CHOP. The  Analytics Lead will be a thought leader and key partner to executives and department leaders. The Analytics Lead will have a strong understanding of departmental operations and will analyze trends in data, identify business drivers, and make strategic recommendations to departmental leaders. and make the individual will lead a team to create scalable data infrastructure and analytics products, which enable self-service and support decision making at the speed of business.  

 

The Analytics Lead will be aligned with a specific service area and be responsible for the full portfolio of analytics-related projects across the entire data development lifecycle from data ingestion, curation, governance, visualization, analysis, and prediction. The Analytics Lead provides product leadership in leading the technical architecture for solutions needed, project management ownership in the delivery and status of these solutions and analytics thought leadership to departmental leaders. They will identify innovative solutions and design/develop/recommend new approaches and methodologies and tools for data-driven decision making and planning. They will also provide training and mentorship to analyst team, may have supervisory responsibilities.

 

A successful candidate is an experienced analyst who is articulate, analytical, and a team player who has a deep understanding of data and analytics and is passionate about using these skills to meet strategic business goals. S/he learns quickly, works independently, is an effective leader, and is relentless in overcoming technical, process, and organizational obstacles. The team is looking for creative problem solvers who are excited about joining a collaborative team and are passionate about leading analytics efforts that have a positive impact on patient care.

 

 

This position will support of King of Prussia Hospital location and will work remote-hybrid with approximately 2-3 days per week on site as needed at the King of Prussia Hospital, with other time spent working remotely.  

Job Responsibilities

  1. Portfolio Management
  • Align analytics strategic plan with enterprise and/or department strategic plan to create new business capabilities.
  • Proactively monitors health system performance (clinical, financial, operations) and makes data-driven recommendations to health system leaders which result in improved performance.
  • Responsible for oversight of a project portfolio by: facilitating prioritization of work, creating project plans, monitoring project timelines, reporting on project status, identifying project resource needs, understanding needs of clinical teams to assure successful completion of project objectives, serve as key point of contact on assigned projects, participates in multiple work-streams
  • Works with data consumers at all levels of the organization to gather, analyze and manage business requirements, and work with various development team to design and test new business intelligence and data analytics solutions to drive decision making and insights.

  • Leads and manages daily team activities and project assignments for a focus area (department, service area). Assist with management decisions and activities. Develop and provide technical and staff leadership to the unit.
  • Mentors analysts and leads cross-matrix teams

  • Point person for collaborative partnerships with different departments within the organization

Job Responsibilities (Continued)

  1. Technical Leadership
  • Expertise in defining and developing KPIs and other meaningful metrics.
  • Exceptional Technical Skills and strong knowledge of Data Warehousing and Analytics technologies (SQL, Netezza, Oracle, Cloud Environments).
  • Exceptional skills with Business Intelligence Tools (R, Qlik, SAP BO)
  • Expertise in developing powerful, user-friendly, visualizations.
  • Strong understanding of visualization concepts and effective data storytelling approaches
  • Experience with Epic Analytics Tools – Cogito (Reporting Workbench, Radar, Crystal)
  • Develops analytical solutions that are powered by robust data infrastructure which promotes scalability, re-use, and reproducibility of data.
  • Develops “end-to-end” technical architecture to include data input solutions, data governance process, enterprise data management, and the analysis-presentation of complex data.
  • Individually contributes to projects as necessary

Required Education and Experience

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree

 

Required Experience:

Six (6) years of experience in analytics / business intelligence

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education:

Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, biostatistics, epidemiology, health services research, economics, quantitative science or related discipline

 

Preferred Experience:                                                                                                                      

Eight years of experience in analytics / business intelligence

                                                                                                     

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Demonstrated application of several problem-solving methodologies, planning
  • techniques, continuous improvement methods, project management methods, and analytical
  • tools and methodologies (e.g., statistical packages, modeling, etc) required.
  • Experience in at least one computer programming language or analytical programming language (R, Python, SAS, etc)
  • Experience with data visualization tools preferred (Tableau, Qlik, etc)
  • Experience with SQL
  • Knowledge of relational database structures
  • Understanding of data flows, conceptual knowledge of ETL
