Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a dynamic group of hundreds of scientists, leaders and administrative staff who support the institution’s mission of providing excellent quality and safety in the care of pediatric patients. The laboratory performs more than 2 million diagnostic tests each year for CHOP patients, hundreds of U.S.-based clients, and international institutions that rely on CHOP’s scientific expertise.

In addition to a robust research division that continues to push the limits of scientific discovery, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers a diagnostic test menu of nearly 2,000 tests performed by various on-site laboratories including Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Virology, Clinical Microbiology, Metabolic Disease, Immunology, Point of Care Testing, Phlebotomy, Immunogenetics, Core Laboratory, Transfusion Medicine, Stem Cell Laboratory and the Division of Genomic Diagnostics.
