Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) are a collaborative group of professionals who practice in the Hospital’s inpatient and outpatient settings as Certified Nurse Midwifes (CNMs), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners (CRNPs), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). These professionals play a critical role on the patient family medical team.

Our leadership team works hard to support advanced practice nurses and providers in their personal and professional development. We offer a comprehensive competency-based orientation specific to your individual experience, role and clinical responsibilities. We also offer a transition to practice fellowship program for all CHOP APNs and APPs, both novice and experienced, that focuses on the leadership and professionalism competencies of your role.

APNs and APPs are also offered ongoing educational and professional development opportunities. These include simulation sessions, hands-on skills workshops, inter-professional workshops, conferences, pharmacology education, emergency care certifications, monthly clinical topic sessions, as well as opportunities to lead and participate in departmental and Hospital-wide committees, shared governance initiatives, research activities and much more.

CHOP also offers clinical placements for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral nursing students.
